The definite highlight of the cruise was attending the Carnaval parade in Rio--one of the most spectacular events I've ever witnessed.
The cruise took place near the beginning of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) breakout. While we were on the ship, a couple of other Princess ships had reported outbreaks of the virus. On our ship, they had installed sinks at the entrances to the buffet, and would not let you go back for seconds at the buffet without going back through the entrance (and washing your hands again). Other than a lot of discussion about the virus on the ship, the only impact seemed to be a 3-hour delay in receiving clearance to disembark in Rio de Janeiro.
