Our morning stop was Neko Harbour, our first landing on the Antarctic Peninsula. In the afternoon, we stopped at Port Lockroy, a former British Station, with a museum and gift shop.

We had the choice of remaining near shore with the penguins (which Brenda did) or hiking in the snow (which I did).

After lunch, we sailed to
Port Lockroy, on Goudier Island. Port Lockroy is a former British base, which now serves as a museum and gift shop. It's also the only place where you can send mail from Antarctica. It is staffed by 4 people during the summer (our winter).

The next few shots are from the museum at Port Lockroy, which shows what life was like there when it was used as a base. The base was in use between World War II and 1962.
