Mediterranean Cruise--Introduction

This was a 7-day cruise on the Viking Sea from Rome to Barcelona.  The main attraction of the cruise was that the Viking Sea is the only cruise liner that currently stops in both Tunis (Tunisia), and Algiers (Algeria).  By adding side trips to San Marino (from Rome) and Andorra (from Barcelona), I was able to add 4 new countries to my list, for a total of 116 (although at the time, for some reason, I thought it was 119).

The Viking Sea is a brand new ship from Viking Ocean Cruises, an offshoot of Viking River cruises. The ship carries about 1,000 passengers, which is relatively small for a cruise ship.   The cruise visited Valetta (Malta), Cagliari (Sardinia, which is part of Italy), Tunis, Algiers, Valencia (Spain), and Barcelona (Spain).  Before the cruise we took a train to San Marino, and after the cruise we took a bus from Barcelona to Andorra.

Let's go!
